Whirimako at the Festival

RBA's Whirimako Black is making another noteworthy screen appearance, in a short film called Upstream screening with the NZIFF. Written, produced and directed by Adriana Martins da Siva it tells the story of an immigrant from Portugal who develops a close friendship with her Māori neighbour while living in the Manawatu. A Portuguese transplant herself, Adriana Martins da Silva’s film offers a refreshing slant on Kiwi life from a foreign perspective and an elegant, understated portrait of female friendship.
